One or Two Days Group Tour to Zarechye
Let's immerse into the world of Russian manor of XIX century
The spring is setting in again, and we need to go out to the countryside and to explore actual Russian villages and historical places. Let us spend a winter weekend with Galina Maslennikova, the granddaughter and the direct heiress of the Dumnovs' house of textile manufacturers, and visit her manor-museum in the old Russian village Zarechye, which is located on the bank of the Sherna River in the Vladimir Region, at a distance of 80 km from Moscow.
We will have a unique chance to visit the preserved and restored with historical accuracy house of Galina's grandfather, textile manufacturer S.Dumnov, as well as the only in Russia museum on the history of silk velvet weaving with the old working equipment.
We will learn about traditional Russian manufactures and crafts. In addition, one could participate in the only master class in Russia on velvet silk weaving onauthentic manually operated silk weaving machines of the XIX century.
We will be immersed in the world of the XIX century Russian manor, as well as be acquainted with the exhibition of author dolls and puppet compositions “The World of the XIX Century Russian Village”, made in Galina Maslennikova’s workshop “Russian Dolls.”
We will be served a Russian national cuisine lunch and tea from a samovar, which is prepared on pinecones, and will be treated with delicious pancakes from the oven and homemade jam.
At lunch, we will taste delicious borsch and pies, buckwheat porridge with mushrooms, cooked in a Russian stove, pickled cucumbers and tomatoes, homemade dumpling, and drink tea with fragrant herbs collected from the surrounding water meadows of the Sherna River, which flows nearby.
Optionally we can fix up a steam bath in a real Russian bathhouse on a wood with a birch broom and drink real Russian homemade fruit juice and samogon (homemade traditional alcohol).
Performance of the folk Cossack group with burning dancing and singing can be ordered separately as well.
After the excursion around the manor you can stroll through the ancient village of Zarechye, where there are still many old houses decorated with the famous rich Argun's carvings, and visit the existing village church of the Icon of the Kazan Mother of God, built by the Dumnovs' brothers in the middle of the XIX century.
The cost of the one-day trip without transfer: 1000 rubles per person.
Transfer/driving options (depending on the number of attendees): by car, by minivan rented, by public transport (train+taxi).
Visit to the bathhouse and the performance of the Cossack group are charged separately (if ordered).
